Nokia 4.2 Highlights
Nokia 4.2 is a low-mid range budget smartphone with Android One experience. Android One means much faster experience with the user interface. It also looks very simplified, light and provides a more authentic Android experience. There are not too many phones with this exclusive feature. Phones like Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite also comes with Android One around this price range.
Nokia 4.2 has a glass back, which is something rare for the cost. Most phones are coming with a plain polycarbonate body. So, it is a good advantage. Also, the smaller 5.71 inches display with waterdrop notch makes this device compact and comfortable to hold for one hand usage. It is an excellent choice for everyday tasks such as making calls, fast internet browsing, using chat apps, watching videos and so on. The placement of the logo on the front and on the back looks quite elegant. The HD+ display with 295 PPI is also decent for the price.
3 GB RAM and Snapdragon 439 chipset should ensure overall smooth performance. But there are some better choices for heavier graphics apps in the market. If gaming is not among your priorities, the performance should be adequate for you. 32 GB ROM with dedicated MicroSD slot up to 400 GB can be considered as a good deal regarding storage capacity.
13+2 MP back camera and 8 MP front camera are of average quality. One may expect them to be a bit better, especially when the name is Nokia. They still capture natural, authentic looking shots, but the colors won’t be that vibrant and you may see a lack of details compared to many other phones from top brands in this price range.
3000 mAh battery is probably the most significant disadvantage of this device. Well, the display is just 5.71 inches and we are getting Android One here. So, 3000 mAh is still above average. However, there is no fast charger included therefore, the phone may take around three hours to charge, which is far behind the competition fully.
One cool thing is that the device comes with a notification LED and it is placed on the power button. Both the back-mounted fingerprint sensor and biometric face unlock responds pretty fast. So, altogether, Nokia 4.2 has some strong positives and unique features, but at the same time some critical issues as well, especially, when it comes to the battery and camera.
