Nokia 5.1 Plus Highlights
A couple of days ago, we wrote about Nokia 3.1 Plus where we’ve mentioned it as an up to standard low-mid range phone. Now, for those who are looking for something in the mid-range scenario from Nokia, we are glad to present Nokia 5.1 Plus. The first impression is great with its impressive premium looking design. A 5.8” notch display, glass back, polished frame, finely rounded corners and Nokia’s new minimal concept makes it look skillful and expensive. It can be held perfectly in hand with a comfortable grip
Nokia 5.1 is coming with Android One with stock Android experience. You may or may not have heard the term “Stock Android.” It is also called pure or vanilla Android. It is the basic, unmodified Android version as it is without any UI from the manufacturer and added features like Xiaomi MIUI, Huawei EMUI or Samsung Experience. Here you will get a clean, much faster interface/performance, bloatware-free device meaning no unnecessary pre-installed apps and quick direct OS updates from Google. This is a much appreciable experience for many users.
Nokia 5.1 Plus comes with 3 GB RAM, 1.8 GHz octa-core CPU and MediaTek’s Helio P60 chipset. It will perform higher than a Snapdragon 636 and slightly lower than snapdragon 660. You may not feel any lag whatsoever also with up to the mark graphics related tasks. On top of that, you get the classy software optimization of Nokia. The battery will provide a full day backup for power users and the 10W charger may charge it fully in about one and a half to two hours. Try to charge your phone once it reaches as low as 15% and never use your phone while charging as mentioned in our safety & care guideline. Performance wise, it is an outstanding deal for the price.
Both front and back cameras are pretty satisfactory for daylight photography with natural color distribution. HDR, bokeh auto white balance works fine as well. For us, it is among the best in this price category. But you may struggle a bit in low-light conditions with oversaturation and low color accuracy, low dynamic range and a fair amount of noise. Some other features in this device are always-on display, double tap to wake gesture, face-unlock, fingerprint, USB Type-C etc. You will get at least two years of major updates (Android Pie and Android Q) and three years of security updates.
