Xiaomi Redmi 6 Review
Xiaomi Redmi 6 is an entry-level low-mid range smartphone with some strong positives. Redmi 6 comes with a compact plastic body with a metallic finish and curved edges. The display is a 5.45-inch Full-View one. It has a compact, modest, and simplistic style with comfortable grip for one hand usage. The HD IPS screen provides a very nice viewing experience with a decent view under sunlight as well. There are reading mode, night mode etc. as well for optimized viewing in diverse situations.
The dual 12+5 MP camera on the back with LED flash looks pretty elegant for a budget phone like this. The daylight shots are great with excellent colors, focus and dynamic range. The photo samples exceeded our expectation. It is a very admirable camera considering the budget. Low light shots provided a fair amount of light. 5 MP front camera with f/2.2 aperture did a fine job as well. Full HD video recording is clear, sharp and stable enough. Show motion video, portrait bokeh, PDAF fast autofocus, HDR etc. are some of its great camera features. Overall, pretty awesome camera for the cost.
Redmi 6 comes with MediaTek’s Helio P22 chipset with 12 nm octa-core CPU and 3 GB RAM which signifies excellent performance in this budget range. Helio P22 is known for its power efficiency. So, the user may get a much better backup with just 3000 mAh of battery. Moreover, a much compacter 5.45″ screen will consume a lot less power as well. So, a full charge can let the user go through over a day depending on usage time. Full charging may take about 2 hours and 15 minutes which is decent considering that the device is offering no fast charging. We saw an overall smooth performance and no lag while modest multitasking and testing some graphics-related apps in low settings. There should not be any overheating issue which indicates fine hardware and software optimization from Xiaomi.
Redmi 6 comes with a back-mounted fingerprint sensor, 32 GB ROM, OTG, FM Radio, face unlock etc. features as well. There is also a so-called “dual app” feature which allows using two different apps account (for example, two WhatsApp accounts) in this device.
